Purpose of Funding
The Student Mental Health Grant Fund provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that improve student mental health and well-being in St. Johns and Putnam Counties. Funding supports efforts to reduce stigma, promote suicide prevention, increase awareness of depression and anxiety, provide therapeutic care, and help parents and caregivers access resources during a mental health crisis. This grant opportunity is made possible through the generous support of the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Funds.
Areas of Focus
Applications must align with at least one of the following focus areas:
- Reduce the power of stigma, which can act as a barrier to students seeking help.
- Implement suicide prevention efforts and initiatives.
- Assist the community in recognizing the signs of depression and anxiety.
- Support students struggling with mental health by providing access to therapeutic care.
- Increase understanding among parents and caregivers about how to find help during a crisis.
Funding Guidelines
- Maximum Award: $10,000 per organization
- Eligible Uses: Programmatic support, direct services, or capacity-building efforts directly tied to the approved impact area
- Eligibility: Must serve residents of St. Johns and/or Putnam Counties, be a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in good standing, and IRS Form 990.
Application Timeline
Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties reserves the right to request additional documentation or clarification during the review process.
