On Saturday, May 9, 2026, residents across our community are invited to participate in the Annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive, the nation’s largest single-day food collection event. Organized by the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC), this initiative supports local food banks, pantries, and families facing food insecurity. United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties is proud to serve as a local partner, ensuring that all donations collected in our area get into the hands of local food banks and pantries through United Way’s trusted network of community partnerships.

Participating is simple: leave a bag of non-perishable food items next to your mailbox before your regular mail delivery on Saturday, May 9. Letter carriers will collect the items, and United Way will work with local partners to make sure they reach the agencies serving those most in need.

“A simple bag of food can go a long way in helping a neighbor facing hard times,” said Carl F. Cricco III, President & CEO, United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties. “We are proud to partner in this effort to ensure every donation stays right here in our community.”

Most Needed Items Include:

  • - Canned vegetables, fruits, and proteins

  • - Peanut butter and jelly

  • - Pasta, rice, and boxed meals

  • - Cereal and granola bars

  • - Shelf-stable milk and juice

Please avoid glass containers or expired items. Every item collected helps strengthen food security across our community.

Additionally, volunteers are needed to help sort and distribute donations to local pantries on May 9. If you're interested in making a hands-on impact, visit unitedway-sjc.org/stampouthunger for more information.

Since its inception, the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has collected more than 1.9 billion pounds of food nationwide. Right here in St. Johns County, 161 tons of food has been collected since 2020, a testament to the generosity of our community. Your support helps grow that number each year and more importantly, ensures that local families in need have access to essential nourishment.
