United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties Presents $43,000 to Support Literacy Across Putnam County Schools
PALATKA, FL – At the October Putnam County School District Board meeting, Meghan Durden, Director of Philanthropy at United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties, presented a check for $43,000 to support literacy initiatives throughout Putnam County.
The funding, made possible through a three-year, $125,000 grant from the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Fund, supports literacy initiatives across Putnam County. This investment will help expand access to books, enhance classroom reading resources, and provide additional support for literacy-focused programs that empower local students to succeed.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Delores Barr Weaver Legacy Fund to award $43,000 to the Putnam County School District to strengthen reading proficiency among K–8 students,” said Carl Cricco III, CEO of United Way of St. Johns and Putnam Counties. “Literacy is the foundation of academic success and future opportunity, and this investment reflects our commitment to making a meaningful, lasting impact on the lives of Putnam County students.”
